Software is made of people.

And people are tricky. We are dedicated to finding ways out of the interpersonal traps that make projects go wrong and hurt organisational culture. 13 Antipatterns is a book and podcast where we discuss the problems we’ve seen and ways to avoid them in future.

What are Antipatterns?

Patterns are simple, repeatable solutions to problems. But antipatterns are different because although they feel like they should work, they make things worse! Interpersonal antipatterns can lead to misunderstanding, friction, and even offence.

The great thing about antipatterns is that you can learn how to identify them and replace them with positive patterns that actually do get you the outcome you were intending.

Whatever your role in a product team - designer, developer, product owner - your job relies on you communicating clearly and effectively with the rest of the team. Learning your antipatterns and replacing them with positive patterns can make your job easier, more fun, and a springboard to the career you’ve always wanted.
